I have always struggled with getting into modular. A couple years ago, I grabbed some modules and a NiftyCase and tried to make a go of it. Mostly, I didn’t like the sounds that were coming out of my setup. Then I thought more modules would do it…but caught myself before I turned into one of those people (love you all, just not for me!). So, I sold the few voices I had and stuck with a Morphagene and Mimeophon. They are both interesting and at times fun. But, I rarely find myself gravitating toward them. The Make Noise stuff can be pretty opaque. I always end up with the manuals open, trying to remember how to do things. Tonight was one of those awkward nights.
I recorded a loop into the Morphagene using the OP-1F as my sound source (I love this thing more and more as an all-purpose quick synth). Then I ran that into the Mimeophon and had the ochd send lfos to a few knobs. It turned into a kind of low end heavy blobby thing. Wasn’t happy with it at all.
So, I added some drums to try and make it a bit more interesting. Took a loop I had recorded on my kit, ran it through effects, including a granular preset that made it a bit more drum and bass like. Finally, I added on some randomized string hits with lots of delay for further interest.
It’s a…hmmm…let’s call it…a challenging piece of music tonight.

I think you undersold this. Love the mood
