Novembeat 2025 – Day 28

This one is more of a snippet as proof of concept. I have been waffling for a few years now on getting an octave pedal for my bass guitar, mostly due to indecision about which one to get. Tonight, I decided to just make my own in Reason. I have thought of doing this in the past, but never actually gotten around to it until now. First I recorded a simple tapping loop on my bass recorded directly into the instrument input on my Evo. Then I split the signal, sending one part through the Bass Amp effect in Reason and the other through the Polar Dual Pitch Shifter into distortion into reverb. After doing this I added some drums and more synth parts and then decided that I hated them and pulled them back out again. In the end we have bass only starting things out (with a little blown speaker drive happening), then I fade in the pitch-shifted part to play along with the bass, then finally I fade out the bass so it ends with only the shifted part with the reverb mix automating to full wet at the end. I’m excited to use variations of this setup more with my bass.
