I wasn’t sure how I wanted to wrap up the month. Do I do some big finale? Work harder on a piece? Incorporate all the gear I’ve used this month? That all seemed like a lot of work. So, I went for simple, and also something that looked back a little. The Korg Volca Keys is one of the first pieces of hardware I bought in my new musical phase that started back in 2019 (along with the OP-Z and some Pocket Operators). I don’t use it as much anymore, but when run through effects, it can be so beautiful. Here I put it through the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Screen Violence (adjusting the drive throughout) and then into the Microcosm (the Chroma Console sits this one out). This is also fitting because the Microcosm was one of the first effects pedals I bought in this new era and has been my go-to on so many ambient tracks, especially the fourth Mosaic setting.
It has been a fun month again. In many ways more fun because I didn’t have the stress of recording a video every day. I have a couple reflections that I’ll share soon. But for now, let’s vibe out to this ambient piece. Thanks for reading and listening!
