Just a short write up on my latest video. The KO 2 has been nice for making beats on the couch. It’s light, it powers up instantly, and two triple A batteries seem to last forever.
One hangup that I have had, though, is being too precious about projects. There are 9 available projects on the KO 2 (with backup of projects hopefully coming soon). The TE guide frames projects as songs, though I think you could really get multiple song parts within each project by structuring your committed scenes appropriately. My hangup has been that I will create a few patterns, maybe turn them into scenes (the hierarchy is roughly patterns->scenes->project), and then be afraid to do anything else in a particular project until I have “finished” what I was working on.
But this box, for now, isn’t really something that I want to finish complete tracks on. Instead, I find that I enjoy making beats on it to kill time and maybe use those beats for other projects.
So, I’m trying to commit to making a beat, recording it, and then clearing the project for the next thing. We’ll see how that works.
Other random thought on this particular track. You can mute a group quickly by holding down the group button and sliding the fader down to zero. Unmute by holding the button down and sliding back up. It works fine, but I have had a few instances of finger slop where I started sliding the fader before getting the button depressed. For me, it seems to be a bit more intuitive to just leave blank patterns in place for each group to function as mutes.
That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed the little groove.
