Novembeat 2020 – Day 18

Novembeat 2020 – Day 18

So, in video games, there’s button mashing…I did the musical equivalent here. Sometimes I make a jam and I don’t want to think too much, just have fun. Sometimes that fun is really repetitive. I don’t mind. I enjoyed this one.

First, I made a beat in the Teenage Engineering PO-32 Tonic. I then copied it over to patterns two and three to add a couple of extra parts. I ran the output of the Tonic into the audio input of the Korg NTS-1. The NTS-1 is a decent synthesizer, and a fantastic effects box. I would kill for a version of the NTS-1 that has more dedicated effects slots and filters for the audio in.

I then used the Korg SyncKontrol app on my iPad to send clock to both the Tonic and the NTS-1 (using a headphone splitter). After that, it was all button mashing the punch-in effects on the Tonic, and knob twisting on the NTS-1. Next thing I knew, four minutes had passed.

Sorry about that (but not really).
